Minister’s Message 29 December
Dear Friends,
I hope you all had a happy Christmas!
Although there will be much continuity, including weekly Sunday worship at Kinross church, nevertheless, this Sunday does mark the final service before we become Kinross-shire Parish Church alongside our sisters and brothers at Cleish, Fossoway and Orwell & Portmoak. And we look forward to our first joint service next Sunday at Fossoway.
As we begin on this venture, and as we continue the story of Christmas, we're thinking this week about our expectations versus the reality. In our readings this week, Mary and Joseph get further confirmation about Jesus' uniqueness as they visit the temple in Jerusalem. Then, as we fast forward a few years, they are surprised by the behaviour of their little boy. The baby Jesus grows up! And in doing so his parents realise he doesn't quite match their expectations.
I wonder what expectations we have of 2025, Kinross-shire Parish Church and, ultimately, of God himself? Will all of them behave as we predict?
Every blessing,
Alex Johnson
Probationer
