Minister’s Message for Sunday 20 October 2024

19 Oct 2024

Dear Friends,

Let me take the opportunity this week to draw attention to one or two upcoming events that you may like to plan on attending.

As you will be aware the proposals for the Kinross-shire united parish are now published – these can be accessed online via the Church website and there are some printed copies available in the church. Please take time to read and consider these. After the service this Sunday there will be an informal opportunity over coffee time to ask any questions that may arise for you.

Also this Sunday afternoon, the monthly Church Family Walk will be tackling Benarty Hill, but the good news is that there will be refreshments at the top. Meet at the church car park at 2.15pm.

Looking a little further ahead be sure to put Saturday 2 November in your diary. That morning the Craft Group sale will be on at the Church Centre between 10am and 12noon. With tea, coffee and home baking all for £3 and a wide selection of handmade gifts for sale, it's definitely worth a visit. You would also be able to sit in on part of a meeting of the Presbytery of Perth which is being held in Kinross Church. In the morning opening worship is at 10.30am and you can stay for as much or as little of the business as you wish – you are free to slip out whenever you like. In the afternoon from 1.30pm the session with take the form of Conversations on Assisted Dying, organised by the Church of Scotland Public Life and Social Justice Group. This will be a topic in the news over the coming months and will be a useful opportunity to consider some of the issues involved in the context of respectful dialogue.

As ever, I look forward to sharing in worship with you Sunday by Sunday as together we seek wisdom and strength for the road and discernment of God's purposes in our lives.

With all prayerful good wishes,

Alan
