Minister’s Message 22 December

20 Dec 2024

Dear Friends

This week we are thinking about ‘the Expectant’, chiefly Mary the mother of Jesus who covers multiple meanings of the word during our Nativity Service this Sunday. She saw the angel's message to her as an announcement of the imminent demonstration of God's love for his people.

But when you look at the diary we don't have long to wait. Perhaps we have one more 'normal' day before I'll see many of you back again for the crib service or the watchnight on Christmas eve. By the time we're halfway through the week Christmas will be over! Not long to wait at all, not long before our attention once again becomes diffuse.

Yet, this Advent we have been reflecting on all that we are still waiting for; we carry on the expectations of the Legends, the Critics, and the Peers. We join with Mary in becoming 'the Expectant', swaddling the hopes of people past and present around this baby lying in a manger. An action befitting any time of year.

So let us, as Kinross Parish church, continue to be expectant of the imminent demonstration of God's love, even if Christmas will be over in a flash.

Every blessing,

Alex Johnson
