Minister’s Message 26 January
Dear Friends,
As you receive this weekly email on Saturday morning I want to encourage you to join your prayers today with those of others in committing the work of our now united parish to God for the year ahead.
The church will be open between 7am and 7pm today. Around the sanctuary we have set up the following areas where you can take a little time:
Reflection and Listening – there will be books of prayers to use, a tree on which to hang labels with written prayer requests and candles to light as an expression of prayer for someone or something.
The United Parish – there will be a map of Kinross-shire with some specific suggestions for prayer about the life and work of the churches.
Youth Work – there will be information about different aspects of ministry among young people.
Community and Nation – praying for national and local government, and local services including the Health Centre, Day Centre and Broke Not Broken.
The Wider World – celebrating links we have with various churches and individuals around the globe and remembering Christians who are struggling because of poverty, natural disaster or persecution.
Sensory and Creative – an area where you can explore prayer without using words.
You are invited to spend time at some or all of these prayer stations and also to join with others for a brief act of worship at the top of each hour.
I know that many people are hesitant in engaging in prayer in contexts other than the private and personal devotions and intercessions that we all engage in alone or the public and corporate prayer that is led in church on Sundays, but I really want to encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and try something a little different. I hope that you will plan to be there at some point during the day today.
With all prayerful good wishes,
Alan
